The End of the Exile

Daniel 9

Main Point: The sovereign God will end the exile in the Messiah, who will come in God’s ordained time.

I. Daniel’s prayer: God, please end the exile as promised (9:1-19).

II. God's answer: I will, but it's going to take time (9:20-27)

• Return from Exile in Two (2) Phases (see also Isaiah 42:18-53:12)

  • Physical Exile

  • Spiritual Exile

• Here is the fundamental point of the vision: the ultimate return from exile will take not just seventy years but a much longer time (70 x 7 years).
